Gold Mitre

Dark cream coloured Thai silk, machine embroidered with pale gold metallic thread and gold mesh appliqué.

The design is based on the St Chad's Cross surrounded by Celtic interlace inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels.   The knotwork is made from one single continuous line that travels from front to back and down the lappets.

The gusset is made from the same gold mesh as the cross - for ventilation.  The mitre is destined for Australia, where, as the recipient put it "Bishops seldom wear their hats to keep their heads warm"!
