Holy Spirit Stole

Main fabric is scarlet wool worsted.

The knotwork for this stole was designed to create a dove-shaped space and to give a "tongues of flame" effect.  It is entirely my own invention, but keeps to the "rules" of Celtic knotwork - i.e. it is a single continuous line with alternating "overs and unders". 

The appliqué and lining are MacPherson clan tartan and the detail is stitched with a combination of metallic and rayon threads.
