St Michael Cope

Main fabric is cotton damask with cotton sateen lining.

This cope was made for our church - St Michael and All Angels.  The design for the embroidery on the front panels was taken from the east window, which was designed by Sir Ninian Comper and depicts the four archangels.  They are free-hand machine embroidered appliqué using a variety of gold coloured fabrics and threads.

The hood design was taken from another image of St Michael slaying the dragon and was stitched with the same technique and edged with commercially made fringing.
