Welcome to "Fir Chlis" House of Prayer and Healing
|
Fir Chlis is an Ecumenical House of Prayer and Healing, a place of retreat, on the outskirts of the tiny north-coast Sutherland village of Tongue. It has stunning views over Ben Loyal which is often heard referred to as 'the Queen of Scottish Mountains' because of its crown-like appearance. Ben Hope, the most northerly Munro, rises to the west, and the local coastlands offer some of the most breath-taking views to be found anywhere in the UK. Wildlife abounds, making this quiet and remote area an animal-lover and ornithologist's paradise. |

Kathleen Pannell, who is an Associate Member of the Community of the Servants of the Will of God, writes: Over twenty years ago, the Lord gave me a Vision for a House of Prayer. Now the house is built and furnished, and the Lord commands me to 'launch out into the deep and let down your nets' by making my invitation known. His Invitation: His Promise: His Gift:

Fir Chlis - pronounced "Fear Clish" - Gaelic for "Light of the North" - is simply a Resting Place. There are no 'gimmicks', no distractions and no 'alternative therapies'. The Lord's Presence is here in the Blessed Sacrament. He longs to draw you through the loving silence, order and beauty of the House, set in its stunning location, deeper into His heart where he will yoke you to Himself and give you rest. The Lord's invitation is simply, "Come". He awaits all those who feel drawn to respond to His call. Whatever your burden - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual - He awaits you.

Life at Fir Chlis follows a simple pattern. Morning Prayer is offered daily at 7am, Evening Prayer at 7pm, and Noon Day offices are said. Communion is celebrated once a month, with the Reserved Sacrament kept in the house at all times for reflection and meditation upon the Indwelling Spirit of Christ. Roman Catholic Mass is available once a month, and the Church of Scotland is open for worship every Sunday in Tongue village. Three simple meals a day will be offered, and packed lunches may be arranged. The emphasis of the House is on 'silence' and guests are invited, quite simply, to rest in the Presence of God and allow His Spirit to work within each of His beloved children. Visits may be from as little as a day, and donations for short, medium or longer-term stays are invited.
